I believe in magic. I strive to create it in my writing and to find it in the mundane as well as the extraordinary. Roald Dahl put it best when he wrote: “And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

My magic is found in Tuscany, Italy where I live with my husband William and our animals: a dog, cat, rescue pigeon, bees and alpacas.

I paint strange pictures featuring robot hands and nature, I like metal detecting and archaeology, I spin wool as well as words, and love traditional English choral music.

I am lucky enough to have made my living from the English language for over 35 years as a teacher, teacher trainer, then academic author, ghostwriter, translator, editor, and writer.

I've been on Medium since 2018. My articles have had as many as 260,000 views and as few as 10! Writing is like that, I don't let it get me down too much. In 2021 I was a semi finalist in the Medium Writers Challenge with my story Death - Italian Style.

As well as enjoying unusual subjects like lobsters, the Etruscans and Atlantis, I like to take an unusual angle on the everyday, and of course I write about my adopted country, Italy.

I've created a list of all my stories by category here.
